Yes, I am a Catholic and a literal Bible believing young earth creationist. No, it's not mandatory for Catholics, at least not since 1950, but it is still allowed and I personally take a dim view of most of modernist thought. The medieval worldview, like it or not, fits the facts of life best and so it's what I'm sticking with.

My personal opinion is that any deviation from a literal biblical worldview is a danger to faith and best avoided. Believing that every single historical person and event in the Bible literally existed and actually happened just as it is written, is very comforting and has never done me any harm. Medical science did, and has continued to do, little to save my son's life compared with genuine miraculous intervention. Further episodes of WOSF will make this abundantly clear!
