First episode!
After a bit of prayer and a lot of (mostly fun) software experimentation, we've decided to go Comic Book with the book!
There will probably be two print publications: one as just straight up graphic novel/manga, and an expanded edition using the comic panels as illustrations and adding more of our personal insights on each day. The main storyline begins with the travel diaries - our epic road trip of March-May 2026 that led us away from Mormonism and back into the Catholic Church! There are also prequels in the works:
- Wildflower Seeds - a short series of vignettes explaining how we went from a more or less ordinary mom and teenage sons starting over after leaving abuse, to a mom and quadriplegic son playing Vikings in an interesting van... (Fall and Winter 2025-2026)
- Franciscan Foreshadowing - Hadrian's coming of age story of discovering his true self, finding true fatherhood in God when earthly fathers fail us, and what matters most in life (spoiler: it's not being rich or popular!) with his mom and older brother along for the ride (2024-2025)
- Camping In Portents - one amazing summer as a healing family...but with storms brewing on the horizon (Summer 2025)
- Underground SSSSSaints - mom Victoria's story of finding the strength through food, fellowship, and the power of the written word (both her own, and the Word of God!) to serve Christ (as well as some delicious dinners!) and break the chains of an abusive marriage. Will include excerpts from her year-long recipe and Bible study newsletter that also served as a first personal journal (March 2024 - April 2025).
- Wildflower Roots - Victoria's childhood memories of family travel, learning to follow Jesus along the road, and her grandparents' choice to live a simple life filled with faith and meaning
And Wildflowers will be continuing as a webcomic with weekly updates featuring the continuing adventures in faith of Victoria and Hadrian.
Stay tuned for more updates including a newsletter, more social media options, and at some point getting this to run from our actual domain rather than just a link! (Our IT department consists right now of Victoria, her phone, and her barely existent spare time and technology skills, so please exhibit heroic patience with us. God will reward you!!)
